Cafe Luca

Take a seat and wait to be served at Café Luca, the new name for Café Andros, whose ex-owner has sold up and moved to Cyprus.

The new café has retained some of the old staff, one being the chef, and brought in some new ones.

When a café is under new ownership its future can often take one of two paths, that is either having its atmosphere changed completely or having its charm retained and perhaps enhanced.

With Café Luca I have to admit they’ve made some improvements while retaining what was good.

They have expanded the seating area, as well as putting in new furniture, by removing the little gift shop part at the front, which was actually not used all that much. They still have some of the knickknacks for sale over on one wall near the exit, but I’m not sure if this is an ongoing thing or simply leftover stock from the sale.

Anyway, the décor of Café Luca is definitely an improvement – I’m especially fond of the new comfy faux leather brown chairs.

The food is of the same high quality as before, in fact I think it may be a little better, and the price is great at just over a fiver for a full English breakfast with free tea.

I think the old fans of Café Andros will not be disappointed with café Luca, I for one have been back twice since it changed over a couple of weeks ago.
