This nice little tearoom style cafe is just outside York city walls on Lord Mayor’s Walk, so it was a bit of a lucky discovery by one of our team.
Being more of a tearoom they do not serve large cooked meals, but are rather more focused on soup and sandwiches (which can be toasted) and tea and cakes, which they excel at.
The decor is light and airy, and in fact it has a summertime kind of feel inside so it’s quite a nice little place to go and brighten your mood in the dark winter months.
As well as being a cafe, Mr and Mrs Fisher is also a craft shop and craft workshop where one can join short courses to learn how to sew, crochet and knit etc – all useful and enjoyable skills that have been lost to a lot of people these days.
The staff/owners were all very pleasant and smiling, which is always nice to see.
The cost was slightly above average, however they do use locally sourced fresh ingredients and you won’t get the same cakes anywhere else.
